BMX Seats
Exploring the Varieties of Freestyle BMX Seats
BMX seats are crafted to be compact and endure shocks. Many seats on BMX bikes tilt upwards and sit low, aiding in gripping the saddle between the thighs during tricks. There are four primary categories of BMX seats: pivotal, tripod, railed, and combo.
Pivotal seats are secured at the top with a single bolt that passes through the seat's top. The angle of a pivotal BMX bicycle seat is adjustable to suit your liking. Tripod BMX seats are mounted from the bottom, and they prevent any alteration to the seat angle.
Combo seats, also referred to as integrated seats, are fixed to the seat post. As they are sold as a single piece, separating the two components is not feasible. Railed BMX seats, sometimes called “micro-adjust seatposts,” feature two rails underneath the saddle, offering the rider excellent stability.
Why Do Race BMX Seats Have Such Hardness?
The hardness of race BMX seats is due to their design, which often does not prioritise sitting. They are slim, lightweight, and constructed from plastic to minimise the bike's overall weight. In BMX racing, riders typically stand while pedalling, making a cushioned, leather seat unnecessary. A key reason for the existence of race BMX seats is to shield the rider's lower back during landings off large jumps.
