BMX Tubes
Substituting Your BMX Tubes
Situated on the inside of the tyres, BMX tubes are the component of the wheel that retains the air. Constructed from various types of robust rubber, they include a tyre valve, either Presta or Schrader, for inflating the tube.
Given the nature of BMX activities, at some point, the inner tubes will require replacement. Whether your interest lies in freestyle or racing, you are likely aware that both disciplines subject the tyres to significant impacts and constant pressure, eventually resulting in minor or major punctures. While small punctures can be rectified with a repair patch kit, if your BMX inner tube persistently loses air pressure, it’s time to acquire a replacement tube. Determining the Required BMX Tube Size
In essence, the size of your BMX tube must correspond with the size of your BMX tyre, in both diameter and width. The most frequently encountered tyre diameter is 20 inches, making a 20 inch BMX tube a suitable fit. The width of the inner tube is provided as a range, such as 1.70 - 2.5 inches. The width of the tyre should fall within this span, though if it is a bit narrower or wider than these figures, it will still function.
When replacing your BMX tubes, it is advisable to inspect the tyre for its condition. Over time, they can lose traction or become prone to punctures. Should you be considering purchasing new tyres as well, peruse our selection - BMX Tyres.
