Guide to Fitting a BMX Stem
Fitting a BMX stem is straightforward, and with our uncomplicated step-by-step video guide for Freestyle BMX stem fitting, it's doubly straightforward:
- Slide the stem onto the fork and check whether there is a gap allowing the top cap to compress the stem onto the headset.
- If no gap exists or if the gap is under 2-3mm, insert a spacer between the headset and stem.
- Grease the threads of the top cap and secure it using an Allen key.
- Align the front wheel with the stem, then tighten the side bolts of the stem.
- Tighten the side bolts gradually, alternating between them to ensure they are evenly tightened.
And there you have it! The stem is fitted, leaving things ready for the handlebars to be fitted next!
