2021: Snoubar Skatepark – Lebanon's First Public Skatepark Opens in Beirut
This year, through our annual Giveback Friday initiative, we’re excited to create positive change by contributing 5% of our Black Friday proceeds to Make Life Skate Life’s incredible project – Lebanon’s first public skatepark in the heart of Beirut, Lebanon.
In a city still recovering from the devastating 2020 port explosion, the newly built 1,100 m2 skatepark at Horsh, Beirut provides a safe, vibrant space for locals as well as refugees. Snoubar Skatepark is more than just a place to skate.
A Symbol of Resilience, Hope, and Unity
Accessible to all, the skatepark offers a variety of programmes for both the local youth and those displaced by conflict. Local coaches provide free skateboarding lessons to children, fostering both skills and a sense of belonging. The park is also home to a skateboard lending programme that makes equipment and safety gear available to everyone to ensure that cost isn't a barrier to participation.
One of the most exciting aspects of Snoubar Skatepark is its dedication to inclusivity. The park hosts girls-only sessions each week inviting young women to connect and bond over skateboarding.
Snoubar Skatepark is a reminder of the positive impact action sports can have on rebuilding and reconnecting communities. We're honoured to support this initiative and look forward to seeing the skateboarding culture in Beirut continue to thrive.
