What Ski Boot Flex Should I Choose?
The boot flex indicates the level of resistance provided by the boot when leaning and pressing forward in a properly fitting alpine boot with slightly bent knees.
Essentially, flex refers to the boot's flexibility in the forward direction. Generally, the most commonly sold alpine ski boots have the following flex ranges: For men, it's between 80-130, and for women, it's between 65-110.
Keep in mind that this chart is merely a guideline, and some skiers may not fit within these recommendations due to unique preferences, skills, or weight. The suggested flex numbers can vary within a range of 10-25 figures.
If you plan to advance with your boots, you should opt for a boot in the higher ranges or even higher than the chart suggests. A beginner should select a lower number within the range or even below the recommended flex.
This chart does not account for the fact that flex ratings are not standardized and can vary between brands, nor does it consider that temperature changes will affect the ski boot flex experience.
Below is a guide table to help you choose the right flex that suits you best.
