Buying Scooter Pegs
Note that not all pegs are compatible with all scooters due to varying designs and brands.
A good tip is to purchase pegs along with the deck & fork from the same brand. If you are unsure or if no information is provided about the peg you are buying, feel free to contact the skate shop.
A useful rule of thumb is:
The axle the peg is mounted on should be longer than the deck's width. Use spacers to add distance if the peg is obstructed by the deck.
Peg Material
- Steel (chrome steel) is strong and ideal for street riding.
- Aluminum is lighter and suitable for park riding, but it is not as durable as steel.
Alternative Pegs
You can buy "one-piece pegs" where the axle and the peg are integrated.
These are generally stronger than traditional pegs.
Wear and Usage
Pegs are replaceable. If you plan to grind curbs (stone or concrete, etc.), ensure you wax & stone the curb thoroughly to make it smooth. Also, replace your pegs before they deform to the point where they become difficult or impossible to detach.
Mounting
Decide whether you want to mount your pegs on the left or right side.
Since different scooter brands use different axle bolts, we recommend using the axle/bolt from your scooter when installing new pegs, unless your pegs require otherwise. Often, you only need to unscrew the bolt head on your scooter when attaching pegs, then insert the bolt head through the peg and tighten it securely.
