While EVOC was officially founded in 2008, its story began in 1999 when freerider and product designer Holger Feist suffered a back injury in an avalanche accident in Austria. The concept of a backpack with a built-in back protector was born that day. After countless cycling and skiing expeditions around the globe, Holger realised that there was significant potential for improving the ergonomics of backpacks and bike packs.
